The Towner Gallery, is Eastbourne's new contemporary art museum and centre for the visual arts in the South East. Opened in April 2009, The Towner has a dedicated gallery for it's permanent collection and exhibition galleries for national and international exhibitions.
Included in The Towner Art Gallery's permanent collection is the work of Eric Ravilious, the renowed war artist, of which The Towner holds the largest private collection in the UK. February 2010 sees the display of Ravilious's aircraft pieces at The Towner.
During 2009, the work of Eric Ravilious was The Eastbourne Framing Centre's best seller. The most popular image being Chalk Paths, an image of the East Sussex Downs.
The Wilmington Giant, also by Ravilious, was another great seller. Featuring The Long Man of Wilmington and interestingly, the chalk figure was painted green in World war II to prevent enemy aviators using it as a landmark.
The prints of Eric Ravilious are avaliable at the Eastbourne Framing Centre, mounted and framed. They can be purchased and despatched nationally as well as veiwed and purchased in store.
